Deer Ridge Retreat

Beautiful house in an excellent location just outside of the Main Street in Gatlinburg. Be wary of bears — you are in their backyard. We saw bears and even cubs from the property (including ON the upper porch) nearly every day. They were not aggressive, but give them space and respect. The owners/property managers were very responsive to address any and all needs during our stay.The house is well appointed for a family with kids— has kids’ books, plates/cups, highchair, pack n play, though we did not need/use them. There were also books for us adults to read up on the area — helpful since there was a landslide cutting off newfound gap road, and changing our vacation plans. Kitchen is excellent — plenty of room to prepare food at home. Would have liked some Pyrex baking dishes, but really can’t complain overall. Note that there is no hot tub as mentioned in the guidebook. All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely consider renting this property in the future.

We had a great experience staying in this cabin! The owner communicated quickly and answered our questions in a timely fashion. The cabin was close to town, yet, we felt like we were secluded. Contactless check-in was easy. The cabin was one of the cleanest we've ever stayed in. The wall of windows across two sides of the main living space allowed us to see the beautiful surroundings, as well as plenty of bears...mamas & cubs Out of five days, we had bear sightings at the cabin, on all but one day. The bears came up on the deck and we were able to get plenty of pictures and video. Make sure to follow the owners suggestion to lock your cars. We did come out the first day to find paw prints on three of our four car doors. Our kids are older and understand bear safety,.so the bears were an added perk for our family.We used the gas grill three out of five evenings and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, even some things that cabin owners sometimes don't consider. There were grilling necessities, plenty of dishes, serving pieces, cookware, a Keurig, and even a crockpot available. The long table allowed us all to eat together and was a place where we played games as a family most evenings. There were plenty of towels/wash-clothes and extra blankets. The beds were very comfortable. Our family came here for some calm, quiet, together time and we were not disappointed with our choice to stay here. We really hope to come back! Thank you!

Property was easy to access in my Expedition- very well-equipped/stocked, clean, nice, and was decorated beautifully. Lots of large windows with natural light, beautiful deck and views. Beds slept well. House is located close to town but far enough away from the crowded streets of Gatlinburg- views were beautiful from upper deck and you didn't feel too close to any other homes, in my opinion. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again for future trips to the area!!

Overall it was close to town and enough space for us. We had our kids 2 friends with us so we needed 3 bedrooms. There was a note about the neighborhood bear Nellie (which my kids were excited about) but maybe a note to leave the outside porch lights on might be helpful as we left early in the morning to go to Dollywood and came back late at night to find the bear with her 2 cubs right outside the house. That was pretty scary for someone who is not used to seeing bears…we waited until she left but it’s nerve wracking to say the least to have to enter a 10 digit door code to get in (and being dark out). My suggestion if possible would be to make a 4 digit code as it was quite annoying to look up this long 10 digit door code to lock and unlock the door each time we left. Other than that we had a great time! The ice machine wasn’t working..we texted the number and they said someone would come fix it the next day but they never came. It was a short stay for us so it was fine but would’ve been nice to know so we could go buy ice the first night we got in.

My mom and I visited and enjoyed every bit of it! It felt like we were out in the middle of nowhere while only being a few minutes from town. We even saw a bear off the front porch nearly everyday! Totally recommend

We were unable to use our reservation as my MIL ended up in the hospital. I texted and asked if our adult children could still come and was told "Yes" they could. A few hours later, I was told they could not b/c I was the one who booked the rental but we would get a full refund. A few hours later, I got a text that said we would not get a a refund at all. We did not purchase the trip insurance - my bad and lesson learned. I asked if we could get credit to use our reservation in the off season and got no reply. I totally understand the no refund rule as it is clearly stated in the rules. But I do not understand why our 23 year old son and his girlfriend could not use the reservation. Or why would couldn't get credit to use the home in the off season? I was trying to be honest and let the owner know what was going on. In retrospect, I should have just sent my son down there and the owner would have likely been none the wiser. My bad for being transparent and honest. So sadly, I have no way of truthfully rating this property.

We were looking for a place close to the attractions in the area, but off the main drag and peaceful. Justin’s place fit that description perfectly. Our family of four, including two children under 6 were comfortable in the home and all the needed amenities were provided and at our disposal. The house is well

Pleasantly pleased it was as advertised. Clean, bright, roomy, well stocked kitchen and baths, comfortable furniture and beds. The kids spent a ton of time playing on the deck and in the yard.

It was an amazing trip and we enjoyed staying here. The only thing I felt uncomfortable about was the little bugs that fly in if you leave the door open too long. All in all, this is a highly recommended place!!!

Very nice place and we enjoyed it tremendously. Beautiful view and was very relaxing inside and loved the outdoor porch. Views were amazing. Special note the bedrooms were all downstairs and all the main house upstairs. For us sleeping was really nice as it’s cooler downstairs. All open windows upstairs was very nice as well. Just loved staying here and would stay again!

Out first visit to the Smokies was lovely due in large part to the outstanding location and well equipped rental we secured. The house was immaculately clean, with sweeping views of the mountain and town on both sides. The kitchen was well equipped, but offered plenty of space for stashing snacks. The bedrooms were quiet and beds were very comfortable. The hosts were informative and responsive and the check-in/check-out process was exceedingly simple. Highly recommend!!

We spent Christmas at this house as a family group of six- four adults and two kids. Everyone was comfy and loved it! The bunk room was great for the kids and the two king beds were so comfortable. We used the kitchen a lot and it was very well appointed. The host even put up a small Christmas tree! One of the best things about the house is how it has great views and is not in a high traffic/crowded area, but downtown Gatlinburg is less than five minutes away. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a great place and it looks just like the pictures. The view from the den was amazing and the windows all across the front made for a great morning cup of coffee. The location is close to downtown and many restaurants. It also avoids the traffic of downtown, which for me is a positive. It is very quiet making for a great nights sleep. Overall this is great place and we enjoyed it throughly. We will be back. I will say if you go in winter and there is snow, you will need 4WD to get up the hill to the house.

Perfect location for our trip to see our grandson play at Rockey Top Sports World. Easy to get back and forth between break in games. We loved the spacious living area on the main level since we were traveling with 1 year old twins who found plenty of room to crawl around. The daily sighting of the neighborhood bear was a thrill for the older grandkids!

I really loved staying at the AirBnB, there was an issue with a missing street sign due the hurricane but that was beyond the host’s control.
It was very clean, quality interior everywhere and lots of thoughtful touches. It was very close to downtown and yet gave you the feeling of being in the woods. Such beautiful views from the picture windows everywhere. The beds were comfortable, there was ample storage in the home and premium quality kitchenware.

Nosotros tuvimos un muy buen tiempo en esta cabaña, incluyendo la visita de un pequeño oso que caminaba por la propiedad. La cabaña tiene ventanas amplias en su entorno, lo que permite luz natural en todo tiempo. El lugar se mantuvo callado y tranquilo, excelente para relajarse y disfrutar el tiempo de descanso. Definitivamente vamos a regresar a Gatlinburg; y es muy probable que escojamos esta cabaña nuevamente.
We had a great time at this cabin, including a visit from a small bear that was walking around the property. The cabin has large windows all around, allowing natural light to flow in at all times. The place was quiet and peaceful, great to relax and enjoying our down time. Definitely, we will be returning to Gatlinburg and most likely choose this cabin again.

This house is wonderful, offering a perfect balance between being close to the Gatlinburg town center and providing a secluded, peaceful retreat on the hillside.
The property was clean, well-maintained, and Justin was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
A note about the local wildlife: Bears are a common sight in Gatlinburg, and this property is no exception. If you're hoping for a chance to see a bear, this is definitely the place to be. However, if you have young children, it's important to note that outdoor play may be limited due to the frequent bear sightings. During our stay, we encountered bears twice, though we were safely indoors each time. The provided instructions to lock doors and cars are there for good reason.

First of all, the property is even better in person - the pictures do not do it justice. This was such a great spot from booking to checkout. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed from a standpoint of kitchen appliances/utensils to towels and sheets. The beds were very comfortable and clean. You can sleep 10 with 2 in each of the 4 beds and 2 on the couch. We had 6 and that is probably the best number - considering the eating and living area. There was the daily bear and her cub to look at as well. This place is just far enough from downtown not to hear the traffic, but close enough to be anywhere in 5 minutes. When we come back to Gatlinburg, I will not have to spend time looking for a place to stay.

Justin's home was spotless, very pretty spot in a secluded area. We only had 1 minor issue at night with an alarm that went off but our host was quick to respond to our issue and gave us clear instructions for a temporary fix and asked me if he can send someone to fix it while we were way from the house the next morning. He gave us great local recommendations during our stay and checked on us every once in a while.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and I would stay here again.

Great place. Had a small issue with the cleaning crew upon arrival, but contacted Justin and he promptly had the issue resolved. So overall, everything was great.. Quiet house, and PLENTY of bears roaming around the house. Saw a few every morning and evening we were there. Highly recommend this house, will definitely be booking it again on a future trip.

We enjoyed our stay. Common areas (kitchen, dining, and living room) are spacious, bright, and were great for family time together. Everything was SUPER clean and the kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed. Very good washer/dryer downstairs by bedrooms and bathrooms (very convenient) I wouldn't recommend this property for groups over five or six (we had three adults and four kids in our party) as the bedrooms are a bit small for more than two people and sharing two bathrooms. I would also suggest bringing extra towels as there were only eight towels so we had to do laundry every day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The location was very quite and very easy to get to everything in Gatlinburg. The local bear, Nellie, made a few appearances in the yard and was exciting for everyone. I feel it was a good value for the money.

Perfect spot to enjoy Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains!
Close enough to the action yet felt secluded and peaceful when it was time to relax. Great launching pad for restaurants, adventures, or staying in to enjoy some special guests! The Bears were definitely a treat.
Justin was extremely responsive and had a recommendation for all of our questions.

Such a beautiful space. I wish we could’ve stayed longer! The host was so accommodating we have a baby and they left a highchair and a baby gate for us to use. The place was absolutely beautiful. Booked this beautiful home for our first visit to Gatlinburg. It’s conveniently located, close to all the attractions, yet set apart for peace and quiet after a long day.
The kitchen was fully stocked with quality appliances and lots of counter space to meal prep. It even had everything we needed for baking bread and brownies. We especially enjoyed the nice view outside while sitting around the large kitchen table.
The bathrooms were immaculate and never ran out of hot water for showers. The bedrooms were also clean & comfy. Cleanliness is an ongoing theme throughout the property.
It’s obvious this home is managed and maintained with loving care. Justin is a gracious host with great communication. Upon booking, he provides a local guidebook which was the starting point of my vacation planning. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Cute, and spacious! Close to town. We appreciated the fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher for the meals we didnt eat out.

My family and I loved the property and had a great time in Gatlinburg! The house was private, away from the center, yet close enough to enjoy all of the local attractions. Justin was always responsive, and helpful. We definitely recommend it!

The location is perfect. It is so close to downtown and best part you don’t have to get in the traffic. Uber Eats and local pizza delivery is within its range and can have food delivered before you can get to town and back. The grocery store is super close and away from traffic, as well. It is the ideal location.
The house is completely updated and very spacious. We had our family of 6 and had plenty of room to spread out and play games and watch tv. The beds are extremely comfortable.
Great communication and immediate response from the host. Very proactive with different itineraries for the surrounding area.

Loved it!
We stayed here for a few days during December . The cabin is located in a great area. Away from the busyness of downtown Gatlinburg but not too far, my brother actually walked to town a few times. It is in a perfect location if you want to spot bears. The inside of the cabin was very clean and roomy. They had the necessary items to feel at home. The cabin has beautiful windows that give access to a great view. If we ever go back we will definitely book this cabin again. Also, the owners were very nice and friendly. We had no issues.
